Reflections on the backward 2017 American Revolution
The Second American revolution had been festering long before 2017 but was pushed to explode that year by the confluence of total dissatisfaction in a very bi-polarized society, an irresistible push from social media magnates, and Revolution’s general causes fueled by financial interests’ protectionism.
Incremental institutional, socio-political progress was taking place, albeit very slowly, in many different facets of American life but something transformative took place when the Internet came to be most particularly Social Media. It was an earth-shattering event in and of itself that positively at first, vastly accelerated technological progress at a speed that would have been inconceivable in the ’70s.
The social media space was invented almost by accident based on knowledge of nascent coding but most specifically because of the sexual needs of a group of young men who were shocked at first to see how promptly humans with a deep need for belonging were totally willing to spill their guts onto sites which gave them an illusion of what life could be if everyone were ‘friends’. Emotions were not to be verbalized or sanctioned by meaningful gestures or actions but by a silly but nice pictogram the Japanese called Emoji.
On their own volition, under the pretext of ease of communicating with family members at first, all these people in search of a group they could belong to began to compete in Friends’ accumulation, no matter who they were as long as they would tell them: I ‘Like’ You. It did not escape advertisers in terms of potential market expansion and certainly did not escape these sites’ owners. So, while falsely promoting ‘Privacy’ they were mining those souls in exchange for vast amounts of dollars.
In addition, the Internet and Social Media allowed many to find the voice they always felt never had. Good, bad, and ugly had found a home and they would use it to great excess. The immediate consequence was that all kinds of ideas would also find a home, soon to be unabashedly utilized for political reasons some magnanimous but too many nefarious.
Men are wired to live in groups but these, throughout history were meant for physical proximity and survival. They gradually evolved with the advent of travel’s ease but for the most part, even until the end of the ’70s, groups were somewhat geographically confined. What happened is that suddenly in the mid 80’s the internet took off and with it a stronger than ever delusion that the world was ‘One’.
This planet of ours has always been one but not its living offspring creatures. They compete as they have done since the dawn of time. Failing to admit that is to be akin to being the proverbial ostrich. One can fool himself but life’s vicissitudes catch up really quick.
A new false feeling of belonging was born. ‘Humanity’ and “It Takes a Village” became the mantra. Surely, humanity is the only real treasure of humankind, but to exalt that notion to the point of nullifying the intricacies of its complexities is simply lunacy.
The Internet allowed the most elucubrating minds to amplify their views of brotherhood at first, equality, and any other collective fantasy with total disregard for what makes the human stock: The uniqueness of each of its individual components and their competitiveness.
In America where the Internet first fast flourished and still does at mind-boggling speed, due to a system that allows the pursuit of innovation, inherent in each one of us and its natural extension also deep-rooted in us, of continually climbing the social scale. This setting gave rise to gigantic conglomerates which were in and of themselves complex bodies with almost a life of their own but nonetheless still manned by flawed individuals.
In this hot cauldron of disparate proposals, the social climate got hotter and hotter with major interest groups vying for dominance, social and economic, as well as political. Other competing countries saw the cacophony of discordance in America and sought out to take advantage of it.
In that effort, China was most successful at it, exploited American business greed to its advantage by usurping American technology which basically was put on its lap in exchange for erroneous assumptions, a mix of hope and illusions to access not only a huge source of cheap labor but also to access a potentially emerging society’s market.
For corporations to achieve their plans and as simplistic or convoluted it may have been, the essence of the calculus was: - “Let’s provide cheap products, hence raise the standard of living at home, let’s raise the standard of living of a Chinese middle class by giving them jobs and flood them with our products and services. Doing so, we get the best of both worlds.” While theory sounded great, the practice was a world away.
In the span of a short two decades, they were proven wrong on almost all counts but it was too late. The mirage was there but America went both feet into quicksand and the business establishment, as well as the public, began to feel the effects of it.
With a much higher than ever prosperity, Americans of the ’90s saw two wars happen which were easily won because its adversaries were technologically, way inferior. Also, those wars were distant and the Media would cover them in a way to satisfy a public in need of being relevant on the world stage. The Media was feeding falsehoods to perpetuate the notion that America was controlling the world.
The reasoning for those wars was murky at best but it can easily be attributed to an American industrial-military complex’s basic need to destroy in order to retool. However, with China, the calculation proved to be totally wrong and as that country grew in the worldwide influence it financially subverted and corrupted the most fundamental institutions and structures of our country via gullible and greedy actors.
To begin with, China heavily invested in the most powerful propaganda machine the world ever had: Hollywood and its dependent tributaries such as Sports and finally, News. That turned out to be an extremely efficient propaganda investment aided by irresponsible politicians and naïve if not stupid celebrities.
American companies, most particularly news outfits were so heavily dependent on their patron’s good graces that they had to take a stance against American Conservatism which was seen as an obstacle to continued China’s largesse. Unaware and blinded by profits they willfully became oblivious to China’s ultimate goal.
Mind manipulation became a “De Rigueur” motto for many of them. It began with the introduction of the ‘Ultimate Guilt Trip’ the world had ever experienced. That of Climate Change. Not that it is not real, as, until today, the earth, over its life-span has known many catastrophic climatic changes but the fact that this cyclic cosmic event was squarely put on human’s activity shoulders. However not every human, as the reasoning, conveniently was not equally applied. Specific ones, particularly those who clearly understood the re-distribution – Get Rich scheme utilizing useful idiots. The American middle class, rich enough and misinformed enough, was the best target to lay a monumental guilt trip upon. This burden was quickly turned into a super-profitable religion of sorts in order to suck up the country’s wealth and establish a worldwide new wealth re-distribution. A re-distribution managed and orchestrated by tightfisted political lackeys, not at all embarrassed by their own, public constant self-contradictory and blatant fabrications, focused as they were by their immense interests in the Orient.
Add to this money sauce, the fact that such issues as racial integration and more equality were in the ’90s and early 2000’s advancing rapidly in a positive direction. This was probably to them further proof that a Conservative America could put an end to the proverbial Goose.
Abstract thinking was heavily promoted. The notion of Freedom was challenged as it was equated to equality and radical change was demanded in spite of its new promotors having nothing to offer in exchange. The seeds of chaos to come were planted, cultivated, using manure they called ‘Critical Thinking’ to fertilize ideas devoid of roots.
Meanwhile, the Internet had become a cesspool of disaffected people each with their own issues and recriminations. Like all trends, the phenomena of a multitude of thoughts amalgamating took a life of its own and became a social animal incapable of controlling itself.
Freedom had acquired a new meaning as it was no longer the apanage of a free society as a whole, but that of different groups in different locations for different reasons and interpretations.
Liberty followed the same path as did other basic canons of American society. Democracy making a U-turn on itself in this overcrowded freeway of vociferous theories, further complicating simple and successful established thoughts. Elucubrations on the same theme abounded and the inevitable began to happen, the backward revolution of 2017 and the internal social war America is experiencing today in 2021.
The fragmentation of the country had earlier been further accelerated by a person who achieved power, not by pure qualifications but by enhancing and magnifying a collective sense of culpability that had been planted on an otherwise, albeit slowly, healing society. He wanted to “Fundamentally” change the country. People voted for him, not because of his objectives but out of guilt because the vast majority of Americans are not racist and are still ashamed of landowners in the South’s past actions. These voters wanted to declare their innocence and sorrow. They needed to demonstrate their willingness to admit faults that really had nothing to do with them. They wanted to retroactively repent in the name of people who did atrocious things but with whom most had no connections.
Race divisions became a tool pushed forward for political agendas designed to check the further advance of Conservative progression. The American political establishment already rotted to the core fragmented further while in search of a new future order in which they would, of course, remain in control but really could not envision since they all knew the dependency situation they had engulfed themselves and the country into.
Save a few cool heads and a majority of a sane public, the abyss of collective insanity was wide open in front of the United States’ population.
Then came down an escalator a flawed man who in spite of a possible inability of defining a complex problem in a convoluted manner in political parlance, expressed his thoughts in simple terms.
The man may have been an egomaniac at first but probably had a clear and deep view of American corruption’s depth plaguing the establishment and its suicidal dependence on a China that was no longer just a source of cheap labor but a source of catastrophic changes for oblivious public basking in opulence in comparison to the rest of the world. A level of affluence for its citizens, never attained before by any country nor any empire in the world’s history.
The man clearly saw the communist country as not so much as a philanthropic nor benevolent rising power and wanted to preserve what America had attained with so much pain, sacrifice, and successes for the many over its two hundred some years’ history.
He may have thought that his own wealth would protect him as he probably knew too much about too many. One can go beyond speculations to say that his initial ego soon turned into a calling when he witnessed the tens of thousands chanting slogans and begging him to take action.
That is when in this American land, the whole hell broke loose. The American Revolution of 2017 had begun but it was not in that sense similar to the French one. It was backward. They were not fighting a despot. They were fighting to justify their corruption. It was the same actors as the France of 1789 but going counterclockwise. In other words, in the wrong direction.
As for the French Revolution, in America, money fueled public anger. A new class of aristocracy had developed in less than two decades, aware of its power and influence, as it was totally conscious and informed of that huge segment of popular discontent it, itself fueled and concocted, further aggravated by the import of illegal immigration to replace the missing new blood, in other words, missing new taxpayers, medical advances and practices had willingly eliminated.
A Techno-Aristocracy, in many instances more powerful than the government itself, armed with a so-called enlightened youth-specific, illusory global vision. An American aristocracy at times manipulated from distant lands, influences to the American public and market, manned by people with huge differences in their frames of references and values’ interpretations.
American Mega Technocrats and their international satellites replaced the merchants and the lower nobility of the French Revolution. Their use of social media and usage of incompetent greedy, corrupt, and compromised politicians provoked alarm amongst a great deal of vulnerable, misinformed public. Flames of anger and resentment were fanned by all kinds of special interest groups who rallied under the Democrat’s banner, including many on the Right, equally bought lock stock and barrel by China. A China which has embraced technology and most dangerously for our country has left behind its ancestral self-controlling inwardly view of the world.
American intelligentsia entered the fray in addition to countless “philosophers” and “social theorists’ that sprang up on the Internet. Ideas to solve problems that did not exist, or ones they themselves had fabricated and never wished to solved in any case, as this created enormous pools of dependent voters or issues which at best could have been easily by-passed became so chaotic that the ones controlling such immense investments in China had found a ready-made novice scapegoat and victim in the man from the escalator. He had to be destroyed.
Resources which could have easily financed building a whole city on planet Mars and beyond were coalescing against that man, viewed as the worst obstacle because he had the support of the people, so they set out to mercilessly destroy him to protect their interests abroad which in any case, only offers illusory security.
China was delighted to have at its disposal such a 5th column of greedy imbeciles right at the core of its enemy’s government and infrastructure, aided as it was by private knowledge that in effect paralyzed potential rebellion on the parts of all those, which at the highest level, they had so easily bought.
Like for French Revolution, its main ‘enlightened’ actors ended up chopping each- others’ heads to give rise to a despot, but that despot would not be the one targeted here. The real despot in America was the cabala of confluent interests.
Similarly, enlightened Internet thinkers propagated a plethora of paradoxical thoughts with demands for more political freedom. The kind of freedom demanded would be carried to excess by the media and business moguls for the purpose of ousting the Escalator man and of course its resultant was, as any semi-intelligent person could have predicted, damage to property, damage to peace, public order, individuals and ultimately irreparable damage to its government’s institutions who were pushed as far as possible to the point of disregarding its own laws and turning against its own citizens.
By seeking excess equality which soon turned into equity, they failed to see the nefarious and criminal consequences of such demands. Freedom had allowed them to overkill and they did. They ousted the man but their revolution continued only because when you unleash crime for the purpose of intimidating voters when you make a mockery of the law for that very purpose when you exploit the gullibility of the disaffected class, mind you not poor though, one soon loses control.
As it happened in France during the Revolution, the Jacobins (read communists of their time) fractured in two camps. Their internal war resulted in what would be known as the “Reign of Terror” in which tens of thousands of people were decapitated.
Today by the end of 2021, one can observe that the “Revolutionaries of 2017” are already badly fragmented. Not for ideological reasons as the Media would want one to believe but because they are vying for power. True to Communist doctrine all they are interested in is absolute power.
The extreme Left in America, guided and led by young politicians, who interestingly come from cultural and religious backgrounds which historically have been, to say the least, hostile to American ideals, know that they have a definite advantage over an old and corrupt establishment. They freely push them around as old people often are, aided by their knowledge and abuse of those freedoms which were implemented by men with great vision, maturity, and wisdom but who, unfortunately,
could not have predicted the Internet and Social Media’s advent.
These young lions will stop at nothing. They control the vocabulary of revolutionaries and abuse it with indecency. They control the narrative, aided by the “Bourgeoisie of our time”, business conglomerates who also control the Media. Why should they stop? Like during the French revolution, the businesses interests who wanted their share of the National cake caved to each of the “Montagnards” or the “Girondins” demands. All Jacobins.
Today, we can easily observe the caving of the law and big business establishment to “woke’ ransom demands. These ‘Revolutionaries’ are guided by young ideologues who have inherited a mix of American culture for having been born and raised here but also who are equally heavily influenced by ancestral familial structures. They are unconditional communists, who could be given the benefit of the doubt in view of their youth if it were not so destructive and counter to the basic Anglo-Saxon Puritan values who were the founding blocks of the best human experiment on earth in spite of all its negative shortcomings.
As for the aging establishment, the very pawns they utilized to dethrone the man with orange hair are now utilizing them as idiotic puppets on strings.
One has only to observe the extent to which they are bending down to these new young hungry wolves, whom like Robespierre in 1789 France, are blinded ideologists Utopians seeking a society which certainly will not resemble in any way the one they are so desperately trying to envision but cannot fathom.
In conclusion, one has to observe that they (the Left) exploited everything, including a microscopic virus for which the mesh of a mask is akin to a warehouse roll-up door to a mosquito.
The Mercantile class of business moguls transformed the best social experiment on the planet for which millions of people long for, into a mega flea market.
It is incumbent upon good people in America to open their eyes, shut their wallets and rise to stop uncontrolled insane greed which is transforming this country into a gigantic Souk.
To do that effectively, Americans must stop trying to save the planet and save their country. They must begin to question and investigate EACH person spending millions for a political position that pays no more than 70k to 170K per year but which, in so many other ways is so lucrative.
On the silver lining side, Excesses are bringing about another rightful revolution now festering and will hopefully, be fully expressed in 2022.
